The blog was originally started by Eduipe and I to review albums and attend local music concerts. It was very idealistic, but we figured that doing something only we could do to gain extra readers wouldn’t hurt at all. So I suggested greatest idea ever, let’s start translating K-Pop. We were basically a sell out even before we even got started.
This was back in 2009 and I diligently translated these terrible songs like a slave. Terrible, terrible, terrible songs, but they were pretty freaking fun to listen to. My personal guilty pleasure. I even remember staying up till 3AM for rookie boybands to release their albums so I could speed translate before anyone else. This continued all the way through middle of 2010, I kinda slowed down. Did a translation once a week or so, then literally stopped in 2011.
Doing translation is cool, fans can finally understand such deep and profound lyrics. One thing that always ticked me off is people on the net would take our translations then crediting themselves. You know who you are, changing one word or something then fully crediting yourself. I’ve seen a lot of big fansites doing the same thing as well. Readers actually commenting once in a while would help too, but that’s another story.
It’s been 3 god awful years of constant translating and it’s finally time to stop. We won’t be missed since there are 10 million other god awful Koreanboos translating teams that will completely butcher the Korean language.
Welp, it’s finally time to say goodbye. Thank you EVERYONE for supporting us and sticking with us past 3 years (or almost). We aren’t as eager to translate songs, it takes a lot of effort and time to do a decent translation. We have our own quarter-life crisis to deal with now. Maybe you will see a new translation/update from us in a year, maybe 2, maybe never. Who knows, now we have no use of the twitter.
